Jaden Boulanger, the defending Maine Class B State Slalom Champion from Mountain Valley, was victorious in the opening slalom ski race
at Black Mountain of Maine on Friday. Boulanger had runs of 58.00 and 1:00.23 for a combined time of 1:58.23. Ruby Dwyer of John Bapst High School, came in second with a combined time of 2:01.74. Maranacook's Phoebe Bell took third with a combined score of 2:02.19.In the boys race, Thatcher Riley of Maranacook High School took the gold with times of 52.17 and 54.05 for a total of 1:46.22. Second place went to Edward Little's Ethan Levesque with a combined time of 1:54.57, while Riley's teammate Tristin Riley came in third with a combined time of 1:55.33.
The Maine Nordic Team Uniform Contest is now underway! Please vote for your top 3 Jacket and Suit Combos. You can only vote once. There are 15 designs to choose from. Images are included in the Google form. Votes will be added up and a winner will be selected. The Maine Team Uniform Committee has the final say on the winner. Winner will be announced shortly after the deadline to vote. The deadline is Friday, January 19th. Thanks to everyone who submitted a design on Jakroo! Lonesone Pine Trails in Fort Kent was a busy place on Saturday, December 30th. The Aroostook Alpine racing season continued with a slalom competition. According to Fort Kent coach Leslie Marquis, the course had to be moved around the hill to some fresher snow due to the recent rains. There was a morning race and an afternoon race. Emma Bois and Shelby Theriault both of Fort Kent won each slalom race for the girls. Kaden Theriault of Fort Kent won both the morning and afternoon slalom races. Fort Kent, Caribou, Central Aroostook, Greenville, and Presque Isle were among the schools that competed. COMPLETE RESULTS
The selection race process to qualify for the 2024 Maine U16 Nordic team and the EHSC Nordic team will be a bit different this season. There will be 18 qualifiers from the Sassi 5K Classical race and a 2.5K skate pursuit at Black Mtn on January 27th. Registration for the 2.5K pursuit will be posted in January. There will be 3 qualifiers from the Aroostook County Nordic Championships in February and 3 qualifiers from the Class A, B, C state meet pursuit results. Check out the flyer for more info.
The 2023-2024 Maine high school ski season is underway with the first practices held on November 27th. We ask you to think about the State of Maine and the legacy of Maine skiing when creating the design. No 'must include' guidelines.
