We will now spotlight Samantha Pierce of Merriconeag, the 2015 Class C

1) What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?

We traveled to Presque Isle on Saturday and got a chance to see the course before they day of the race which was really helpful.

2) How did you deal with the pressure and emotions that come along with competing in a state meet?

I have an incredibly supportive team and they really helped lift any pressure that I might have felt. They turned all of my emotions positive and made it a really fun few days of racing!

3) What was it like racing in the brutal cold and strong winds on day 1 of the state meet?

Once the race started the cold wasn't too noticeable, but as soon as it was over I was glad that I brought lots of layers!

4) Coming into the season, what were your goals and did you achieve them?

I wanted to have a strong season as a senior and be able to balance high school skiing and the Eastern Cup races that I did for the first time this year. I also wanted to help the younger skiers on my team learn to love skiing as much as I do. I was very happy with my results and can't imagine skiing with a better team. My coach, John Tarling, was a huge help and there's no way I could have done any of it without him.
