We next spotlight Gabe Mahoney of Falmouth who won the Class A Classical and Freestyle races.   We asked him about his state meet preparations and about being a double state champion.

1) What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?

I came directly from the last eastern cup, so I prepared by hydrating.

2) How did you deal with the pressure and emotions that come along with competing in a state meet?
I trust my training and those close to me for advice.

3) What is your favorite thing about ski racing?
The best part is being in races where everyone is better than you, and learning from them.

4) What was it like winning both the classical and freestyle state meet races?
It was nice to end on a good note.

5) Coming into the season, what were your goals and did you achieve them?
This year I really wanted to compete in races at the Eastern cups and I did. I did not make Junior Nationals, so I did not achieve my goal.
