The NENSA U16 Championships were held March 6-8 at Mountain Top Resorts in Chittenden, VT. The Maine U16 Nordic team skied to a close second place behind perennial champion and host state Vermont with the Maine girls securing first place among the girls’ teams! The U16 Championships feature an exciting wave start format that produces head to head racing. Maine skiers thrived in this format and were often found skiing at the front of their respective waves. Maine skiers had many strong individual performances including medal winners Megan Cunningham (5th - 5k FS), Elise Creagan (5th - 5k Classic), Brynne Robbins (7th - 5k FS and 9th - 5k Classic), Luke Streinz (1st - 5k FS, 6th - 5k Classic, and 1st - FS sprint), and Alex Hemingway (7th 5k Classic). Sunday featured mixed technique, mixed gender relays. Maine’s top three relays finished 3rd, 6th, and 10th. Congratulations to all participating Maine skiers and coaches! Race Results
