Day 1 of the 2026 WMC Nordic Championships kicked off today with the individual 6K Classical race at Libby Hill in Gray. In the girls race, sophomore Ida Waterman of Gray New Gloucester is the 2026 WMC Classical champion. Her winning time was 22:21.5. The WMC Classical runner-up was Evelyn LaCasse of Greely with a time of 23:10.1. In third place was Amelia Prince of Freeport with a time of 23:38.0. In the boys race, junior Leif Hellstedt of Yarmouth is the 2026 WMC Classical champion. His winning time was 19:32.3. The WMC Classical runner-up was Xander Gordon of Yarmouth with a time of 19:32.8. In third place was Jackson Chalmers also of Yarmouth with a time of 19:44.9. The Freeport girls and the Yarmouth boys take the lead after day 1. Day 2 of the WMC Nordic Championships is on Saturday with the 5K freestyle pursuit. RESULTS
