The 2026 Sassi Memorial 5K Classical race was held on Saturday at Black Mtn under blue skies and cold temperatures. In the girls race, Clara White of Orono was the race winner with a blistering time of 15:26.1. Mallory Raymond of Gould Academy was second with a time of 16:43.2. Rounding out the podium in third place was Grace Scott of Gould Academy with a time of 17:58.0. In the boys race, Alden Reardon of Fort Kent was the race winner with a great fast time of 14:08.1. Leif Hellstedt of Yarmouth was second with a time of 14:49.5. Rounding out the podium was Xander Gordon of Yarmouth with a time of 15:02.3.

The Maine Nordic team qualifier pursuit was held in the afternoon with the 2.7K freestyle. Skiers who qualified will recieve an email from the trip leader that requires immediate response. Qualifiers must respond by Wednesday, February 4th or their spot will be forfeited.
