Freeport Girls and Fryeburg Boys Win Team Title

Day 2 of the MPA Class A Nordic State Championships was held on Tuesday at the Fort Kent Outdoor Center with the 5K freestyle pursuit and it was repeat winners. In the girls freestyle, Lucy Huggett of Freeport is the 2026 Class A Freestyle state champion. She also won the classical state title. Her winning time was 17:00.0. The runner up was Amelia Prince of Freeport with a time of 17:40.4. In third place was Emma Price of Portland with a time of 17:42.6. In the pursuit (classical and freestyle times combined), Lucy captured the pursuit title while Amelia was second and Emma was third. In the boys freestyle, Jack Borland of Deering is the 2026 Class A Freestyle state champion. Jack also won the classical title. His winning time was 14:13.7. The runner up was Thomas Hubbell of Fryeburg Academy with a time of 14:49.2. In third place was Daire Woodruff of Brunswick with a time of 14:57.4. In the pursuit, Jack was first, Thomas was second, and Daire was third. For the team title, the Freeport girls and the Fryeburg Academy boys are the 2026 Class A team state champions. The Falmouth girls and the Brunswick boys were runners-up. Also congratulations to the Mt. Blue boys and Falmouth boys and girls team for receiving the MPA Class A Sportsmanship Award.
