We next spotlight Hadley Prewitt of Marshwood.  She won the 2022 MPA Class A Giant Slalom race at Black Mtn.  We asked her about her season goals andHadley Prewitt her favorite memories.

1) What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?
I have raced for a number of years, I train on weekends with the Mount Washington Valley Ski Team (MWV) in New Hampshire.

2) How did you deal with the pressure and emotions that come along with competing in a state meet?
Often I am very nervous at the start, however, as soon as I leave the start gate all of my nerves disappear.

3) What was going through your mind at the start knowing that the snow conditions were challenging?
I tried to be as optimistic as possible knowing I had skied in worse conditions. Although the conditions were not something I would have chosen for race day, I knew that each racer would have similar conditions and challenges.

4) What are some of your best memories from ski racing this past season?
At the start of most races, a few of my friends from Marshwood, some other girls from Gorham, and I would ask each racer in the gate what their name was. Then we would cheer for them. I made some good friends during this process, and learned many of the southern Maine racers' names.

5) What were your goals for this season and did you achieve them?  What led to all of your success?
I had never raced for high school before, so I entered racers with no expectations. I always made sure that I had fun and tried my best. My previous training and the support from my coaches, family, and teammates was also really helpful to my success throughout the whole season.
