The 2020 U16/EHSC Maine Nordic Team Selection race was held at Quarry Road Trails in Waterville on Saturday. 67 girls and 92 boys competed to be on
the U16 and EHSC Nordic teams. There was a 5K classical race in the morning and a 5K freestyle pursuit in the afternoon. The Maine team was selected based off of the pursuit results. In the girls pursuit, Abigail Streinz of Fort Kent Outdoor Center won the pursuit with a combined time of 29:37.4. Eliza Skillings of Gould and Eva Clement of Falmouth were 2nd and 3rd respectively. In the boys pursuit, Nate Livingood of Gould just edged out Carter McPhedran to win the pursuit. Nate's combined time was 26:03.3. Carter was 2nd (26:04.3) and Caden Cote of Central Maine was third. The Maine U16 team will compete at the NENSA U16 Championships at Mountain Top March 6-8. The Maine EHSC team will compete at the NENSA EHSC at Gore Mtn March 13-15.
