Volunteers Needed in the County

I am always excited when Maine gets major events, and this season we

have received a windfall, with almost the entire month of March being

filled by National Championships of some sort in Aroostook County. That

windfall, combined with the proximity of these events to the Olympics,

has stretched our volunteer capacity in Aroostook County to

extraordinary lengths however. As a result, the 10th Mountain Ski Club

is looking for help from Maine Ski Clubs to continue to make Maine the

best place in the world to hold ski events.

A number of key volunteers will be helping out in Vancouver the last two

weeks of February, then come back to help out at the JO National

Championships, March 6-13. US National Biathlon Championships are in

Fort Kent March 18-21, USSA National Distance Championships are in Fort

Kent March 24 and the USSA SuperTour Finals are in Madawaska March

26-28.

For any of you who have gone to events in Aroostook County, you know how

much pride these people put into their events and how much of themselves

they have put into their volunteering. The concentration of events in

such a short amount of time will require our volunteers to spend more

time away from work than many are able to afford. We are hoping that

people will want to spend some time in Aroostook County, at some of the

top nordic venues in the World, helping become part of the most

remarkable volunteer community in the World. No previous experience

needed, just a desire to make a difference.

The 10th Mountain Ski Club is looking for help with the following:

1) U.S National Biathlon Championships March 18-21

2) USSA National Distance Championships in Fort Kent March 24

3) USSA SuperTour Finals in Madawaska March 26-28.
